So before I even get to my outfit here I want to say that I am fully, 110% in love with the band Warm Soda. I just checked them out for the first time yesterday and it has been a can't eat, can't sleep, over the fence type of listening love. Just wanted to put it out there. They've got a sorta 70s inspired power pop sound and all their songs are catchy to boot and make me wanna go drink a milkshake and lay out at the beach and then go driving around with my friends all while blasting their music really loud. Come to think of it, that description is basically what I want all my favorite music to evoke. So yeah, Warm Soda's Young Reckless Heart's = really rad. I've listened to it about 7 times between last night and right now.

Now that that has been squared away we can move on. I wore this out to work this week and I was fully mixing the prints here. I'm a huge fan of print mixing, can't get enough of it really. I think the key is to try and find patterns and colors that are somewhat complimentary so it doesn't look like your entire wardrobe just threw up all over you (which could be cool though?). For instance this shirt and dress both have some muted brown and yellow tones going on which is why I chose to put them together. I think other the second key to print mixing is to just go for it and mix those prints as much as your heart desires hah. I even love to do three different prints all together, but just kept it to two here #simple.

I got this vintage 70s shirt last weekend at Catcus Flower (when I was busy showing tons of shopping restraint heh) for just 5 clams. Psyched! Even though it's long sleeved, it's a very thin sheer type material so it works fine for the warm weather. Also! There are people on it! I have been on the hunt for a 60s or 70s blouse with people or faces on it for awhile and this one takes the cake because these not just any people, but they are adorable princesses and princes living in a gorgeous castle paradise in the sky. Word. The dress is thrifted and also one of my new favs for this Summer. I love the super 90s shape that it has going on. Very easy to throw on, but also super flattering and cute.

The little straw bag is also an item I plan to get some great use out of this Summer. As I've mentioned before, I am really into bags with a structured boxy shape to them. This one isn't really a straight up box purse, but more like a distance cousin. It actually was my Dad's girlfriend's in the 90s but she recently gave it to me. I love the idea that she had tons of fun adventures with it and now I'll take it on some adventures too.

And last, but defs not least these shoes are vintage Salvatore Ferragamo's that I thrifted (!!!!!). I feel Ferragamo's are one of those holy grail thrifting items (along with a fringe suede jacket... why can't I find you!?), so I was super stoked to find these ones. While they aren't the exact Vara style that I love so dearly, they are very close with their little bows and gold "Ferragamo" insignia on the toe. At one point I was convinced that wearing these made my legs look kinda weird... I dunno why. I'm over that now though and am ready for a nice, fruitful relationship with these shoes.

Hey! Happy Tuesday! That's the best thing about having Monday off from work, I think. Not only do you get a three day weekend, but then when you come back to work you only have four days instead of five! One thing I've noticed about Bloomington in the Spring is how hot and humid it already is. Every day this week is going to be like 85 degrees. Not that I'm complaining or anything, because I'm not, I'm just not used to this much heat this early in the year. When I took these pictures at like 8:30 this morning I got so hot that I had to take off my jacket ASAP, hence why it only appears in a few shots. I think I kinda like the outfit better without it anyways. That being said, I love this jacket. My passion for orange jackets knows no bounds these days and this one has got a nice blazery sorta shape and is a very soft faux-suede material. A good layering piece for sure. Slightly too big? Perhaps, but that's ok. I thrifted this; it's not vintage or anything exciting like that.

I got these boots this weekend and holy crap I love them. They're from Cactus Flower, which is probably my favorite vintage store in town, and were only $16, which is sorta insane for boots this pretty -- they're real leather too! I'm in love and don't want to ever wear any other footwear ever again. But fo' relz this time. I'm trying to be better about only buying clothes that I absolutely love and not just a lot of things that I like, but don't love. The only problem is I love everything. Sigh. I did show some shopping restraint this weekend because the Cactus Flower also had this pair of super rad heeled loafers in a similar buttery brown leather color that I really liked too. I've been looking for a pair like them recently, but I really wanted the boots and told myself that I had to pick one and I could go back for the other in a week if I still wanted them. I went with the boots, but clearly I'm still thinking about the loafers, so I very well may go get them this weekend. We shall see. Perhaps something else will strike my fancy between now and then. Like a straw hat. I really want a good straw boater hat.

Also, I cannot stop listening to Angel Olsen. Ugh she's just so perfect. Her record Burn Your Fire For No Witness is one of my favorites of the year. And not just one that I listened to twice and liked but then forgot about a week later, but one that I keep consistently coming back to at all different times -- that's how I know I really like it. I've been exploring some of her other stuff too and reaally love the song "Sweet Dreams" which is off of the Sleepwalker 7'. I just can't get enough of her mopey and fuzzy, dissonant folk-rock. Just makes me feel all of my feeeelings. Suggestions for other music in this vein? HMU.

Do you have that one blogger who can do absolutely no wrong in your eyes? That person who's every outfit is somehow even more perfect than the next? For me that girl is Emily Theobald aka It Girl, Rag Doll. I discovered Emily's blog back in 2012 and I was instantly hooked. She's clearly a fellow thrift/vintage enthusiast (which I obviously love) and is able to pair together unique color combos, 60s/70s inspired looks and amazing hair/makeup styles in a way that I just find to be so, so ingenious. Sadly she doesn't update her blog much these days (still on Instagram though!), but thankfully the archives of It Girl, Rag Doll are all still available for perusal. Whenever I'm feeling in a rut style-wise, I love going back through her posts. They are sources of endless inspiration for me and always make me want to be a better blogger and stylist, and encourage me to look at my closet in ways that I hadn't thought of previously. Which is really all that you can ask from another blogger, right? I hope this doesn't sound too trite or fangirlish, but she really is my #1 one style icon. And I love the fact that I can say that about someone who is a real, normal girl and not a celebrity or something (not that I don't find inspiration from celebrities, because I do. Alexa Chung and Kirsten Dunst, I'm looking at you). Here are a few select outfits of Emily's that I love and wanted to share.

Wooow... long time no outfit post, eh? I think we all tend to go through periods of radio silence, but rest assured I'm back in action now. Part of my absence was due to a trip back home to Boston last week, which was absolutely amazing. I was home because my younger sister graduated from high school -- something I wouldn't miss for the world. I can't believe she is a high school graduate! She was also chosen to be the Senior Class Speaker and read a speech she wrote at the ceremony. To say I am a proud sister is an understatement! I also got to see my family, a bunch of friends and visit my favorite coffee shops, thrift stores and all my old stomping grounds. As much as I do like Indiana, nothing will ever beat Boston for me. I miss my family out here!

I brought my camera and tripod home with me, thinking that I'd have so much free time and would do tons of outfit and blog posts. Obviously right? Wrong. I never took either out of my suitcase the whole time... whoops. Ah well, sometimes it's better to just live in the moment and not be so focused on what's happening behind the lens.

I'm back in Bloomington now though, and finally starting to feel a bit more regrouped after a week back at work. And now it's a long weekend! Hooray - and happy Memorial Day!

This outfit is a bit of a departure from what I normally wear, but as I think I've mentioned on here before I have been really into looks that feel a bit more minimalist as of late. I am rocking the double denim look... aka my Summer Canadian Tuxedo haha. Interestingly enough both my shirt and shorts are Gap, but thrifted. I also noticed that yesterday I was wearing a pair of Gap mom jeans. I guess I'm just a big fan of Gap Denim. I think that a good pair of jean shorts and a jean blouse are classic and necessary wardrobe staples. I've had this shirt for like 5 years, paid approx $1.50 for it and have worn it probably close to one hundred times... safe to say I got my money worth. :)

I am also quite a big fan of the baseball hat trend even though I'm sometimes not sure how to actually incorporate them into an outfit without making it look too sporty. I think it works here, though? I got the Corona hat on this last trip to Boston. I couldn't resist it! And to add a little color to the mix, I threw on these red western-inspired booties that are one of my favorite pairs of shoes.

Mayflower Supply is an online vintage store that "focuses on classic pieces with sound construction, and unique but wearable vintage sourced from all over New England." As a native Massachusetts lady, it's my kind of shop indeed! I've come to really look forward to each season's Mayflower lookbook as the styling and photos are always top notch and this Spring's is no exception -- I love all the denim and linen shown here. I've found my style lately hopping very squarely between 60s/70s hippie and 90s minimalist, and these photos are fueling me even further towards the latter. You can bet that I'll have these looks in mind during my next thrifting trip. Hopefully you find as much inspiration here as I have!

Anywayysss, it's like 80 degrees and humid here today. I was too hot in this shirt. Xoxoxo love you 70s polyester. This one was one of my first in what is now a very large collection of groov-tastic 70s polyester tops. I often consider selling it, but it somehow always sticks with me. I must say the print is pretty funky and fun. It was thrifted from a Goodwill in Florida, which was a goldmine for vintage shirts. I imagine this is because of all the older people that retire there and then say "Good riddance with all my old clothing. I must downsize!!!" And then crazy girls like myself who think that looking like Laurie Partridge's bff is a desirable aesthetic snatch them up and wander off into the sunset in a state of utmost printed polyester happiness.

So yeah, it was really hot today and shorts were pretty much the only thing I could bear to wear with the weather. These duders are thrifted, but originally from Gap. The heat and humidity is making it hard for me to come up with things to wear. There's a high probability that I'll wear these shorts again tomorrow. Is that bad? :/ I also had envisioned wearing boots with this outfit but again, too hot, so I went for these thrifted Nike sneakers instead. I'm really not the biggest sneaker person in the world, but I've been digging these as of late. Nike does this cool thing where they date stamp the inside tag of the shoes, which obviously I love since I love knowing when all my thrifted stuff is actually from. These are from 2000, so not quite "vintage" but still 14 years old! These shoes are teenagers, you guys! They're the same age as Mary-Kate and Ashley were when "Our Lips Are Sealed" came out!

I also added these daisy clips to my hair because I slept on one of my "bangs" (aka the shorter pieces that hang on either side of my head) funny and it had a weird wave going on and therefore I needed to show it who was boss and pin it back. Here's a secret, though! The daisy clips are not really hairclips, but actually clip on earrings!! There's your DIY tip for the week: repurpose clip on earrings as hair clips. Easy. I think they actually looked pretty cute. The only annoying thing was pieces of my hair kept getting stuck on them and then when I finally got the earring free there'd be a huge chunk of hair still attached to it. Whoops.

Final note. I feel like the lighting in these photos isn't the greatest and they're a bit blurrier than I would have liked. Sorry. I had like 10 minutes to take them before I had to go to work. It was a valiant effort and wanted to post them anyways,
