I'm trying to get in the habit of taking outfit posts regularly if I can manage it. I took these ones before dashing off to work and I think they ended up coming out pretty ok looking for having only like 15 minutes to get 'em done! Lots of fun things seem to be coming up in the future which is always nice. Going to a ladies happy hour after work with some girlfriends today and then Mac DeMarco is headlining a festival here in town on Saturday, which I'm so stoked for. I must say Bloomington has been doing a really good job of keeping the fun times rolling so far this Spring. I just saw that Frankie Cosmos is going to be playing a house show here in two weeks toooooo -- I can't wait! She's so cool; check out her music if you haven't before!

In looking at these pictures I'm realizing that I'm giving off a bit of a "minimalist prep school" girl vibe if you will. It's interesting because I wore a uniform for four years in high school which consisted of a collared shirt, plaid mini skirt (well I guess it was more of a midi, but obviously everyone rolled that ish up) and knee socks, and I find myself reverting back to that silhouette often. I didn't think so at the time, but looking back the uniform was actually pretty cute!

A good majority of this outfit is vintage that I thrifted: the blouse, shoes, jacket and backpack included. The backpack and jacket are actually new to me; I picked them up this weekend. A good black backpack like this one has been on my wishlist for awhile. All the ones I've had before are just not quite to my liking and to buy one new (well new or "new" vintage stock) always seems so expensive! I was digging through the bag section this weekend and boom! There it was. So perfect with lots of pockets and space. I am a very big believer in the idea that if you want something badly enough and are patient enough, it will find you! #thriftgods

Conversely, there are always those thrifted items that I have no idea that I wanted, but find and then absolutely fall in love with. Like this trench coat, for instance. It's vintage London Fog and I love the blush pink color and long length, which I've been super into for coats lately. It's my Nancy Drew coat! I think she'd definitely go sleuthing in something like this.

The skirt is from TJ Maxx (thanks Mom!), but reminds me of one of the American Apparel ones, sunglasses are from the Cactus Flower, which is my favorite boutique here and the knee highs are literally from the grocery store -- a "10 pair value pack" that cost like 6 bucks haha. They're more like nylons than socks, but I really like how they're sheer with the black band on top -- feels very "Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls" to me! All my knee socks were looking kinda ratty, so I picked these up with my groceries this weekend. My mom says that I'm the queen of buying everything I need at the grocery store; can't say I disagree too much.

Omg a post. An outfit post nonetheless! I know this space has been sadly quiet for several months which is such a total and honest bummer. Back in January I dropped (and subsequently broke my computer) and therefore sorta put a temporary hold on any blogging/etsy related activities. Which was so unfortunate! I feel like my so-called vintage creative juices have been at an all-time high as of late so I've been itching to share on this space. However! Good news! Rejoyce! I finally have a new laptop! Welcome me back to the 21st century.

I also splurged on a new tripod when I was buying said computer so hopefully that will make taking pictures for this here blog much easier. My previous tripod was teensy, tiny so anytime I wanted to use it I essentially had to balance it on an ironing board and a stack of records in order to make it tall enough... super jenky and a total pain in the ass!

Anyways like I said I was itching to do some outfit pictures so here I am in an outfit that I literally just threw on to go to the grocery store. I was originally just going to make this a test post of sorts, but then I actually really liked the styling so I figured why not post 'em. I feel like that's somehow how the best outfits come together? Just thrown on and tweaked based on what's working and what's not. It's funny because I tend to plan out all my outfits way in advance and keep a running list of combinations that I'd like to wear out (anal much?) so it feels good to sometimes not do that.

Also here I am on my roof! I've got this great roof and I never take advantage of it so I think I'm going to make this my new photo spot. This pink leather jacket is relatively new and I adore it. I just got it a few weeks ago at my favorite vintage boutique here in town, Catcus Flower. It's a little big in the shoulder area and definitely not in the best condition but it was only $10! How could I resist that price plus the color and the big round buttons? I think this is going to be one of my favs for Spring. The jeans are H&M (best high-waisted jeans around) and the fox sweater is from Old Navy from last winter. This sweater is one of those items that I never really wear but I still think it's pretty cute so I've been trying to incorporate it more. The boots are thrifted from back in Boston and the sunnies are also from Cactus Flower. And the bag! I love this bag! I'm mean those Mary Quant-esque daisies?? So good. I found it here at Goodwill in Bloomington. There's no tag or anything, but I think it's probably 90s trying to do 70s.

Ok, so something weird has happened as of late. For the first time in my 22 years as a never-dyed, brunette earthling, I've been bitten with the desire to go blonde. Perhaps a sandy blonde? I think it all started when I saw former-brunette, Annie from XoVain/Into The Gloss, sporting a new light colored hair 'do and I was hooked on how dope it looked. Then Typhaine from Cuillere a absinthe went lighter and a chick I sorta have a girl crush on IRL went lighter, and needless to say I've now been all over those InStyle virtual makeover sites trying on blonde shades.

Questionable as to whether I'll actually make the jump into blonder pastures -- I'm kinda scared to actually do it! What if I ruin my virgin hair? What if it looks like total shit etc etc. It's fun to think about though! Here are some flaxen haired ladies (and one chill dude) to admire in the meantime. (all images from my tumblr)

Hi there! So you may have noticed that I've been the worst when it comes to this blog and the shop and have barely updated as of late! I have (somewhat) of a good reason though, in the last two months I moved halfway across the country from Boston to Bloomington, Indiana to start working for a great company! As I've been trying to settle in to my new town, new apartment, new job (new everything), I  just wasn't that inspired to blog or update the store. Plus I was totally mourning being separated from my favorite place to find vintage back home.


Not surprisingly, though I started to miss the hunt of thrifting, my wardrobe felt super stale (I was literally wearing my favorite black circle mini skirt like 4 days a week), and overall was just feeling inspired by fashion in general. Which then of course affected how I felt about my appearance and so on and so forth. Luckily though, the vintage bug bit once again after I made an effort to start finding vintage here in Indiana and luckily if you hunt hard enough great vintage can be found anywhere. Soooo I'm feeling super good about this blog and the shop once again and have tons of ideas and clothes to share, so stay tuned. I'm planning on taking pictures of some of the new shop merchandise that I have later today too (read when I'm less hungover).
